Interning at Ted Baker.

I'm enjoying my second week of interning in the woman wear design department at Ted Baker HQ! The team is amazing, friendliest I've meet so far! The building. Best to describe this place is like a fashion worlds alternative to Willy Wonkas Chocolate factory.

Unfortunately I can't show many pictures of the place but just from the picture of the outside gives you a sense of what the inside is like!

I also managed to get a couple of cheecky pictures of the Ted Baker team.

Annie Griffin - Assistant Designer, specialising in jersey.

Sarah - Assistant Designer, specialising in wovens.

SS12 is looking stunning as well as this years Christmas range. Keep checking out their website for new launches.

H.PR LONDON Press Day 7.04.2011

On Thursday 7.04.2001 I had a great chance to participate in a press day, organised by H.PR London, a lovely vibrant agency with a great, helpful team. The stylish warehouse style showroom is based in the heart of London's West End.

I went there at 10am so it wasn't too busy so I could have a proper look at the lovely pieces. Two rooms were arranged to show agency clients the latest A/W 2011/12 collections.

Shoes

Lingerie

Each collection was really unique. Amongst number of pieces I picked a few really remarkable ones.

Flowery bodysuit by Paul & Joe

Adorable "catchy" brand name by designer Binbin McNiven

My favourite set was debut collection of Liz Black called "Concentric Thoughts" Liz Black presents a subtly futuristic, minimalist look consisting of wearable and impeccably tailored statement pieces with a timeless appeal. Developed for a sophisticated and cosmopolitan woman.

A collection signature piece "Circle bow dress"

"Circle body suit" (front)

Those pieces above are supposed to frame the empowered woman in a circle, achieving an outstanding effect. Perfect pieces for a photo shoot :)))

Kitch and Honey A/W 11 Press Event - Soho house

Kitch and Honey PR company launched their A/W 11 collection on Tuesday 6th April at Soho House, Greek St, London.

I entered the building guiding myself down some winding wooden steps into the basement to be greeted by the beautiful Kitch and Honey team. Two rooms were set out displaying their clients latest A/W 11 collections, names of like Kristian Aadnevik and Pretportobello were arranged for people to view, touch and try on.

The team were great and allowed me to handle several of their clients pieces. The diversity of designing gener was certianly a strong point, ranging from coats of green rabbit fur to naturaly dyed jeans. Below are several of my favourite pieces from the press day with more follow ups coming soon!

Kristian Aadnevik was certainly a designer who caught my eye. The eclectic mix of fur, leather and wovens was certainly sweets for the eye! These fabric mixes gave me a rebellious feel with a certain grungy essence from the leather straps and metal studs.

The photo shoot styling created a very strong sexual independence for whoever was to wear these items.

This coat was my first eye catcher. Naturally dyed rabbit fur - stunning. With the leather sleeves - inciting. The cut of the fur would elongate a models body more so than cutting it as regular coat pattern. The collar is the crown of the piece, with three rolls of fabric to highlight the face.

This print has a strong power and strength to it. Colours are intense and the hand clutching the cross, to me, symbolises control and independence. Certainly a strong character would be wearing this T-shirt.

Bellinskis' collection of colourful swimwear and day wear was also delightful visual shock to the eyes.

Mix of chains and flowers reminds me of the clash between nature and the modernising world. Colour palette uses traditional autumn colours with dashes of blue giving more depth to the piece.

Natural Selection is already an established brand in the renowned department store, Selfridges. Although this is one of the more commercially aimed collections it still offers a unique selling point. The jeans are all naturally hand dyed from various plant sources, producing a stunning range of earthy colours that are rarely seen in the current jean climate, potentially the beginnins of a new colour trend.

Quirky finishings are also added to the garments, the little details are always the most important!

Axel Martin was a new designers name for me. His key area is handsomely made cashmere hoodies crafted all the way Florence, Italy. A cleverly picked colour palette consisting of a range of naturals as well as yellows, pinks or purples depending on how daring you are when you purchase one of these pieces. However my camera did not take any adequate photos in displaying how fantastic these garments are, therefor I have posted an image from his website along with the link below. Enjoy browsing!

The presentation and location was superbly executed with welcoming service to top it all off. View Kitch and Honey website to view more incredible clients they support.

Red riding jacket - Zara

This checky little find was in the Zara store on Oxford st. This beauttiful red quilted riding jacket is a fantasic alternative to the classic Barbour.

The pockets are only attached at the top, allowing them to movely freely when you sit, a perfectly practical design feature.

More colours were available in Black and cream.

Chain after chain . . .

This girl I spotted in a fantastic haberdashery/fabric shop down Dearing Street.

Check it out if you like to make beautiful clothing. The main reasons for this blog was the shop assistant. Her neck was draped with an assortment of necklaces, mainly chains, in a variety of gold and silver. Many people would agree these two types of metallics don't ordinarily work together. But I believe this shop assistant has pulled it off rather superbly.

It has given me a sudden erge to trek round Brick Lane in search for some lost jewellery treasure.

Ted Baker new summer season prints

Being a bit of a print diva I have found the Ted Baker design brand has really cought my eye with the diversity of print styles and techniques all rolled into one season. Here are some examples . . . .

Mirror Imaging

The is mirror image print is of photographs from a woodland stream. Print named 'enchanted forest'. The print has been mirrored then flipped upside down. So at first it is rather hard to suss out exactly what you are lookng at, this I like to think is a good thing. Mirror imaging is starting to become overused but it is still refreshing to see a simply beautiful piece created.

Hand drawn
At the opposite end of the digi mirror print is use of hand drawing. Below is my favourite print out of the all. I find the colour pallette refreshing. This mint green colour hasn't been used very much recently so maybe it's time for a come back?

The cut is simple however the attention to detail, green piping around the waist band and pockets, highlights the print and emitts a unique radience. The colour pallette also allows a wide range of block coloured tops to be matched.

Placement
Hummingbirds always look beautiful whatever you put them on. However I think this placement could have been done a bit more skillfully. Perphaps going around the body opposed to being just positioned at the front of the dress?

Traditional
The floral print will never die out as it's audience is still as strong today as it was 100 years ago. this year Ted Baker hunted for vintage prints and this is their own take on their research.

And of course all foral prints have to go some form of frilly top, scarf or hand bag. This print has a wide market, striking through all ages. So it's no wonder Ted Baker hasn't demolished using tradiotional florals just yet.
