Graduate Fashion Week 2011
This week, Earls Court held their yearly Graduate Fashion week event, with sponsoring from George.
I arrived on the Monday evening to a crowd, bubbling with excitement. The first sight to my eye was the champagne bar, crammed with people into a tiny area. Fearing if they stepped over the line into the go between space they would loose their chance to network with elite amongst the viewers of the show.
Their was a high level of co-odination gone into to constructing the stands. Kingston University had there own special parlour whilst Northumbria University had an extensively organised arrangement of their students work, supporting some stunning textiles pieces.
Below is the Nottingham Trent stand. I was impressed by their knitwear and of course their cordwainers course, also a hot contestant against London College of Fashion.

Colchester had one of the most students work on display. With three rails displaying garments with supporting sketchbooks.
This bird was beautifully set against the side cuff.

Below are some general pieces that I found inspiring. Especially this head. It hasn't got no real strong link with the piece, but it still made me stop and look which I think has got to be worth a blog mention.

Overall it was a great show, it was a shame all universities didn't show their collections in the catwalk show. More universities are becoming more independent and funding their own shows. My university for instance, Ravensbourne, being one of them. So check out their catwalk show on 27th June at Greenwich Peninsula.

Push PR Press event - Tuesday 12th April 2011
Push PR press event was set up in a great location at The Soho Hotel, Soho London. An atmosphere of excitement was amongst the people checking out Push clients new collections for A/W11. A great selection was on show with a strong diversty of colours, themes, textures and looks to browse upon. There was certainly something for everyone tastes, ranging from bespoke bridal gowns, Jasper Gardiva, to silk slippers, Holistic Silk.
Magda and I picked out some of our favourite pieces from the event, with plenty of links for you to browse further.
Plastic tiles were hand sewn to the main body, was the essence of the structure of the tops and dresses above. Great pieces, reminded me of the terracotta armies armour. Collection created by Jasper Gardiva, the eastern theme continues through into his prints show below.
A vintage inspiration I would believe to be the source of inspiration for this dress. Delicate fabrics but not too sure if the lace, main body, and the frilly pleats, attached skirt, really co-ordinate beautifully together.
A nice minimalist approach to repeated print. Collaboration of olive green and rose pink certainly brings me of a secret English garden . . . . perhaps the key lock shape, below, is a suggestion of this?
Every genre of fashion needs was covered at the press event, especially the beach!

This bracelet by Nicholas king is stunning. Metal tiles are surrounded by a glass shell.
The natural colours is what I find most inspiring.
This is a fantastic piece showing the use of textiles woven into jewellery.
Good as a party piece or dressed down for a casual day in the park.

Feet for the urban jungle.
These babes are a delight! If had purchased them I would want them constantly no matter how unpractical the situation would be.

Author Shoes
One early Saturday morning on my stroll through central I noticed a shoe shop I had never seen before. And being a keen bee on shoes I found myself being quite shocked by unknown building. The name of the shop was called Author.
The interiors consisted of antique images lining the walls with old type writers, vases and such other objects dotted amongst their delightful range of shoes. At first I believed it to be a boutique but soon found out there are more dotted around London.
The pair of shoes that truly caught my eye were some Melissa red ankle boot jellies. As I was unable to acquire my own personal photo of the beauties I have a reference from their website to show you.
This shoe has been created through a collaboration with Gaetano Pesce, a renowned Italian architect designer. The design allows you to individually tailor the shoe to your preference. Each circle can easily snipped off with a pair of scissors to suit your desired creation.
I am undecided wether I would take a pair of scissors to such unique shoes.
