Mary Katrantzou - The art of print

I man said to me once that the usage of print in fashion is just a fad. Everything comes and goes and print will come to the end of its cycle again. My reaction first reaction was stunned silence. How can a man be so narrow minded about he evolution of fashion? My next reaction was to pity this man when it dawned on me that he didn't have the skill to create such beautiful art work, hand drawn or digital. Therefore  took upon himself to shun the world of the print artists.

Yes the style of print goes round in cycles. Digital print is still swimming at the peak of its cycle. With, personally, Mary Katrantzou as the leader for this seasons A/W 11 collection. Lets celebrate the beauty that is being spilled on to the catwalks and anticipate what is to come next for the print world.

'The woman in the room' is the core idea for this collection. Katrantzou imagines the woman as a connoisseur, surrounded by beautiful objects.

This collection to me proves that it is possible to combine any colour combination, pattern and theme together. Of course great skill  and hard work allows these beautiful combinations to collaborated.  Mary Katrantzou's collection proves, in my opinion, that fashion produces two of the key ingredients every human mind needs.
Beauty and art. Everything else follows after this.

Moon Doll Boutique LFW Wrap party

Moon Doll Boutique hosted London Fashion Week wrap party at one of London's hotspots, No5 Cavendish Restaurant and Bar. I found it quite a mellow night expecting the teaser of the first 70 people to arrive to receive a goodie bag didn't quite get the [arty going as well as they would of hoped.

The night was aimed at building your networking empire. Aiming for you to have the chance at meeting up and coming photographers, designers, model agencies and scouts. I struggled to find many people who fell into this category. Instead it reminded if the sour taste of a university freshers event.

However there was a cute fashion show around 9pm showing around 5 models all of course wearing items from the Moon Doll boutique. With the 'best' looking model winning a crown and a bouquet of fowers at the end. Unfortunately the show only lasted around 5 minutes after which the party took an even steeper dive when I found myself being revitalised by the sight of pink sugary cup cakes, which may I add were delightful in everyway, created by the Zazzabella bakery.

Pierre Garroudi A/W 11 Collection

During the hype of this seasons London Fashion week Pierre Garroudi show, 19/2/11 London Bridge,  shone out among the rest of the designers with his monochromatic purple fabrics structured into a diverse spectrum of textures. With spectacular styling to top the icing on the cake for his 'Royal' themed collection.
A range of publishers, from Magazines such as Vogue, Elle and Telegraph were drawn to the show like bees to nectar. Photographers, stylist and fashion bloggers were also amongst his biggest crowd yet to spectate.

Backstage was also a bubble of excitement. Models being hand stitch into some of the garments. The last few strands of hair being tucked back by the hairdressers.

Personally the overall show was a brilliant success. There was a lot of strong and talented people pulling the show together. It is also beautiful to see such a loose approach to fashion with such a high quality of skill and knowledge going into each garment. Next's season will certainly be a torment to wait for with 'Dusky Pink' being next seasons colour palette. Including an extended range of new techniques to Pierre Garroudis already extensive portfolio.
